How the ratings work

Red — flag. An ingredient we actively flag in our research. Associated with disrupted gut bacteria, reduced mineral absorption, or other documented concerns in infant nutrition.
Amber — worth knowing. Not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of. May indicate a more processed formula, a less preferred source, or an ingredient where better alternatives exist.
Green — good sign. An ingredient that reflects a cleaner, more nutritionally aligned formula. Whole milk, algae DHA, GOS prebiotics, and human milk oligosaccharides all fall here.
Gray — neutral. Standard formula ingredient with no significant concern at regulated levels. Vitamins, minerals, and processing aids typically fall here.
Purple — unscreened. Not yet in our database. May be a vitamin, mineral, or specialist additive we have not yet researched. Not necessarily a concern — but we cannot give a rating.
