Bobbie is the first infant formula to ever receive both the Clean Label Project Purity Award and Pesticide-Free certification. It is US-made, dual USDA and EU Organic certified, and has the most rigorous manufacturing safety programme of any formula we have reviewed. Here is the honest analysis of all four variants, every ingredient, and how it compares to Kendamil.
Bobbie's defining advantage over both US and European formula brands is manufacturing safety and contamination testing. No other formula we have reviewed matches this level of transparency and third-party verification.
Safe Quality Food Institute awarded Bobbie an Excellence rating in November 2025. The highest possible SQFI score. Unannounced audits. Globally recognised food safety standard.
First-ever infant formula to receive both the Clean Label Project Purity Award and Pesticide-Free certification. Tests for 400+ contaminants including heavy metals, pesticides, and plastics. Less than two dozen baby food brands have achieved this.
In response to the Kendamil Canada recall, Bobbie confirmed independent testing for Bacillus cereus at both their facility and their supplier. They do not use the same supplier linked to the recall.
Added November 2025: Sulfite-Reducing Clostridia screening for spore-forming bacteria similar to those that can cause infant botulism. An early-warning system above FDA requirements.
Enter the lot code on the bottom of your can to see exactly when it was made, what safety tests it passed, and when it expires. No other formula brand offers this level of batch-level transparency to consumers.
Independent third-party testing for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury beyond FDA requirements. No fish oil DHA (mercury risk) and no rice starch (arsenic risk) in any Bobbie formula.
These are Bobbie's own disclosures. "2000+ safety checks" and "tenfold swabbing increase" are self-reported figures without independent audited numbers attached. The SQFI Excellence rating and Clean Label Project certifications are genuinely third-party verified. The others are credible but should be understood as brand transparency rather than independent verification.
Bobbie sells four formulas. They are not equal. Here is the honest analysis of each one.
The best formula Bobbie makes and one of the best US-made formulas available. Whole milk is the second ingredient, bringing naturally occurring MFGM, the milk fat globule membrane associated with brain development, without any need to add it artificially. The 60:40 whey:casein ratio mirrors mature breast milk. Algae DHA from schizochytrium, the same source used by Kendamil. No palm oil, no corn syrup, no maltodextrin, no sucrose. The Clean Label Project Pesticide-Free certification is particularly significant, this means 300+ pesticides including glyphosate have been independently tested and confirmed absent. No European formula brand carries this specific certification. The one meaningful gap versus Kendamil Organic is the absence of added GOS prebiotics and nucleotides.
A solid organic formula but not the same product as the Whole Milk variant. The protein source is grass-fed organic nonfat milk rather than whole milk, which means no naturally occurring MFGM and a fat profile dependent on plant oils rather than whole milk fat. Still dual organic certified, algae DHA, no palm oil, no maltodextrin, 100% lactose carbohydrate. A good choice for parents who want Bobbie's safety credentials at a slightly lower price point, but the Whole Milk variant is the better formula.
The Bobbie website lists this alongside the Whole Milk formula in a way that can cause confusion. The key difference is nonfat vs whole milk as the protein source. Always check the ingredient list, Organic Whole Milk lists "Organic Whole Milk" as the second ingredient. This Organic Infant Formula lists "Organic Nonfat Milk."
The most important thing to know about Bobbie Gentle is what makes it unique among sensitive formulas: it is USDA and EU Organic certified despite using partially hydrolyzed whey. HiPP Comfort cannot be organic certified under EU law because hydrolyzed proteins are excluded from organic certification. Bobbie Gentle carries both organic certifications, making it the only organic hydrolyzed formula we are aware of. The protein is 100% partially hydrolyzed whey for easier digestion. No whole milk means the score drops to 7/10 but this is the right formula for a baby with digestive sensitivity whose parents want to stay organic.
EU regulations prohibit hydrolyzed protein formulas from being marketed as organic because the hydrolysis process is not considered compatible with organic standards. This is why HiPP Comfort, Aptamil Comfort, and similar formulas cannot carry an organic label. Bobbie Gentle carries USDA Organic certification, a different regulatory framework that permits hydrolyzed proteins within organic certification. For parents who need a sensitive formula and want to stay organic, Bobbie Gentle is the clearest option available.
The most affordable Bobbie formula at $23 per can, but parents should understand exactly what they are buying. Despite the name, Bobbie Grass-Fed is not organic certified. The lactose, the primary ingredient, is conventional, not organic. Grass-fed refers to the farming practice for the cows, not to organic certification of the finished product. The whole milk base and algae DHA are genuine positives. For parents who specifically want organic certification, this is not the right variant. For parents who prioritise grass-fed sourcing and whole milk at a lower price point, it is a reasonable choice.
A cow can be grass-fed on a non-organic farm. Grass-fed describes the diet of the animal. Organic certification covers the full production chain including pesticide use, GMO status, and manufacturing standards. Bobbie Grass-Fed meets the first but not the second. The first ingredient, lactose, is not organic in this variant.
At $32 per can Bobbie Gentle is the most expensive variant. It is also the most distinctive. Here is what parents with a sensitive baby need to know.
Babies with colic, gas, fussiness, or suspected sensitivity to intact milk proteins. The partially hydrolyzed whey proteins are broken into smaller fragments that are easier to digest, reducing the digestive load that causes discomfort in sensitive babies.
It is the only organic certified sensitive formula we are aware of. HiPP Comfort, Aptamil Comfort, and other hydrolyzed formulas cannot carry organic certification under EU law. Bobbie Gentle is USDA Organic certified, meaning organic ingredients even in a hydrolyzed format.
Partially hydrolyzed is not the same as extensively hydrolyzed. Bobbie Gentle is designed for mild sensitivity and comfort, not for diagnosed cow milk protein allergy (CMPA). For CMPA, an extensively hydrolyzed or amino acid formula prescribed by a paediatrician is required.
Bobbie bundles include free Organic Probiotic Drops containing two clinically named strains: Pediococcus pentosaceus CECT 8330 and Bifidobacterium longum CECT 7894. Both are CECT-registered strains with published research specifically on infant colic relief. 1 billion CFU in 5 daily drops. USDA Organic. This combination has been studied in a randomized controlled trial for colic reduction in infants.
Bobbie also sells Organic Vitamin D Drops separately: 400 IU of D3 (cholecalciferol) per 3-drop serving. USDA Organic. Given that Bobbie formula has the lowest vitamin D of any formula in our analysis, their own vitamin D drops are a practical pairing for early weeks when feeding volumes are below 32oz daily.
The two most discussed formulas in the US right now. Both are excellent. Here is what actually differentiates them.

Manufacturing safety and contamination testing are your primary concern. You want the strongest pesticide-free certification. You need a US-made formula with domestic supply chain confidence. You want a sensitive option that stays organic. You prefer a lower price per can.
GOS prebiotics from milk are important to you. You want all five nucleotides added. You want the highest overall ingredient score. You are comfortable with a UK-made formula. You want HMOs added. The slightly higher vitamin D level matters.
Bobbie Organic Whole Milk earns its 9/10 score and its place on our homepage picks. No palm oil, no corn syrup, no maltodextrin, whole milk base, naturally occurring MFGM, algae DHA, dual organic certified, and the strongest manufacturing safety and contamination testing programme of any formula we have reviewed.
The honest limitations are real. No added GOS prebiotics means it falls one point behind Kendamil Organic on ingredient scoring. The vitamin D is the lowest of all nine formulas in our analysis — parents feeding Bobbie should be particularly diligent about vitamin D supplementation until feeding volumes consistently exceed 32oz daily. No nucleotides.
What Bobbie does that no European formula does: independent pesticide testing with certification, consumer-facing lot code transparency, and US manufacturing with more frequent FDA oversight than imported formulas. For parents who want the best US-made formula with the strongest safety verification, Bobbie Organic Whole Milk is the answer.
